Salim’s Path to Scuba Instructor: Bringing Diving to Uganda
Becoming an FCOA Scuba Instructor is a rigorous and comprehensive journey. We do not issue credentials lightly; we only certify FCOA Scuba Instructors when we know with absolute certainty that they can teach open water courses completely independently.
The pathway begins underwater long before scuba equipment is introduced:
- Freediving Coach Foundation: Candidates must first earn certification as a Freediving Coach and successfully train and certify 5 Freedivers.
- Supervised Scuba Instruction: Candidates must train and certify 2 Open Water Divers under the direct supervision of an Instructor Trainer.
These milestones are built on real-world teaching experience, ensuring that every instructor possesses the practical skills, safety habits, and instructional presence required for total student confidence.
